Truth in All Religions?

I was raised in a very strict and religious family. A lot was expected. My father was very direct in his thoughts and there was no gray area. My mother lived more in the shades of gray. My father would proclaim,”There is only one true church.”  Immediately after his proclamation my mother would say “And there are truths in all churches.”

I assume I was blessed with parents had the same general belief system, and still there was room to disagree, ask hard questions, and make your own choices.

Our community was small enough that churches coordinated their activities so the youth could attend all the activites at all the churches. So you went to bible school, primary and all sorts of different activities no matter what your religion was.

  1. I thought by “religions” you meant Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc, as opposed to different versions of Christianity. As a concept I am very interested in religion, but it is something that I have “grown out of” as I have got older and come to see religious belief as a state of mind rather than an objective reality.
