Tips to prevent drowsiness while driving

Driving a car is an incredibly interesting way to travel. You can always stop wherever you want and continue your trip at any time. But there is a drawback: if you have been driving non-stop for a long time, fatigue appears and makes you sleepy, especially at night. And it is very dangerous.

There are several basic safe ways to prevent drowsiness:

1. Have a good night’s sleep before driving to ensure that the next day does not begin with a lack of sleep.

2. Drink enough water. Dehydration can cause drowsiness, even if before that you had a good rest. Therefore, drink enough water on the road.

3. Sing! Nothing invigorates during a trip like a familiar song. Joint singing has a strong invigorating effect and just raises the mood.

4. Listen to something funny or challenging. Maintaining interest in what is happening and brain activity will help drive boredom away, concentrate and feel less tired.

5. Be active. During stops in a rest area or after a snack, try to be active: walk around, do some simple exercises, stretch your muscles. You can also speed up your heartbeat by running a little.

  1. I have been a professional driver for 40 years and I know from practice how it looks … the only thing that helps is to get rested and sleepy while driving everything else is relative

  2. My husband and I go on long road trips and we sing all the time. We also stop for a huge cups of coffee if we are too sleepy. The other thing about avoiding drowsiness is the copilot or co driver needs to be alert too.
