We live in a small community. I wouldn’t call it close knit, still when there’s a problem or a great idea people tend to come together with support.
The Boy Scouts came up with a challenge. For two weeks the only things that would be purchased from the store (which is 20 miles away) was medication from the pharmacy.
We could barger with each other but no money could change hands. It turned out to be a great experience. We had community dinners, traded and shared. It started a tradition.
Now a couple times a year a note appears on the door. It simply says “Barter Week One started four hours ago.” This means you don’t get to take that last minute run to the store. We participate every time the note appears.

Sounds like tons of fun!
It can be very interesting. Some of the meals are a little more creative than tasty.
More bartering makes good sense!
It certainly does. We do it a lot here.
What a great idea, bring a since of community and the barter system back!
It is a nice idea and it does build a stronger community.
