Vending machines seem to be very popular, especially in shopping centers. There are lots of things we can buy from vending machines nowadays.
I just found that the really early vending machine was developed in 1st century A.D. It was invented by Hero of Alexandria, a mathematician and engineer. The machine accepted coin and dispensed holy water. Then the first modern vending machine was developed in England in early 1880s which dispensed postcards.
There are more specialized vending machines nowadays though I usually see those that dispense snacks or drinks.

We used to have them at school and many stores as well.
my all time favorite was a vending machine that dispensed bandaids. Not packs but a single bandaid!
In India vending machines are not common. I had read about them in comic books and had this dream of using them. When I was on Europe tour I got to use it at Rotterdam. I bought some candy.
