Nature Tuesday – The huge Banyan Tree

This tree is supposedly a 150 years old. It covers acres of land as the banyan trees grows from its aerial roots. It is a beautiful sight to see in the tropical regions where this tree grows.  They also grow from seeds that are part of the bird droppings.

Birds, squirrels, monkeys and bats loves these fruits. You would find a wide variety of birds where there are banyan trees. The huge branches make a great cool, place for birds to nest, the fruits make sweet, nutritious  food and the thick foliage often keeps them safe from predators.

I love sitting under this tree and reading books. Its a cool  and quite place to spend the day outdoors in the hot summer months.

  1. We have a similar tree in Kolkotta. I have been there and we had a picnic under there. There is a road between this tree as it has spread over acres of land.
