Beyoncé says her alter ego is named Sasha Fierce. Janet Jackson’s alter ego is named Strawberry. Janet Jackson’s favorite fruit is strawberry. Strawberry is not my number one favorite fruit. But it is on my Top 10 List. I think chocolate-covered strawberries are better than a heart-shaped box of chocolates. Of course, if someone were to give me both as gifts for Valentine’s Day, I would gladly accept them. LOL.
Did you know that strawberries are grown in every state in the USA and that California and Florida are the largest growers? Never been to California but it’s no surprise to me about Florida. I grew up in that state and can remember my mother and her sister (my aunt) going to the strawberry fields, picking huge baskets of strawberries, and bringing them home.
One last note. Health officials advise people to be careful because strawberries are on the list of foods that contain the highest amount of pesticides; so be sure to wash them.

I love strawberries, especially in preserves. They are great fresh as long as you can get sweet ones.
Fortunately, our local grocery store sells them at a reasonable price. We buy them often.
They all look great, but the pie is my favorite.
Pies are always great, warm, or cold.
