My daily rose – If you love roses, don't cut them!

If you love roses, do not cut them! If you love roses, admire their beauty and then moved on. If you do this there will be more who will enjoy their beauty. If you cut them and put them in a vase, they will die and no one will enjoy their beauty.

A thorn defends the rose, harming only those who would steal the blossom.    Chinese Proverb

  • Are you among those who cut roses and put them in vases?

    • Yes
    • No

  1. I did not cut the roses in my garden in Latvia just enjoyed them and took photos. Whenever my mom got roses as a present she kept them fresh in the vase longer by adding aspirin to the water and changing it every day.

  2. I like to admire the roses in the garden and if I want to capture the beauty of it, a photo and a painting of the very rose.
However, having gone for some walks in Onehunga, I often saw discarded cut flowers on the road by those who did not appreciate them.
These I picked and put into a vase at home.
Plus if a rose bush had dead pieces on it and needed pruning back sometimes I took a small cutting if it was on my side of the rose and often grew the same type of rose in my garden.
It never hurt their rose bush, in fact helped their rose bush.
