Sharing a Mockingbird taken fro my deck with the Saturday’s Critters challenge. I snapped this photo awhile back on my deck by accident. I was looking at bluebirds and this mockingbird perched on the corner of the deck. Rare to get a photo on my deck since the birds tend to fly away so quickly, unless I have my tripod setup.
This bird’s famous song, with its varied repetitions and artful imitations, is heard all day during nesting season (and often all night as well). Very common in towns and cities, especially in southern areas, the Mockingbird often seeks insects on open lawns.
They are amazing as they can sound like any bird they have heard before. Hence their name, the Mockingbird.

Oh my God, Carol you must see many types of birds flying around.
Yes I do, and especially during the winter since I feed them on my deck.
Beautiful picture. I have not seen this bird yet
Thanks, I don’t think you have them in your world.
This bird is unknown to me because he does not live with us
I am sure you have birds I am unaware of.
Oh, you probably would find some bird that you would not know
It’s nice to see them occasionally from your photo collection after since teenagers only know their name from Barclay James Harvest.
That song is a blast from the past. We have many year round in the yard.
Yep! Years full of memories…
