This animal which looks like a healthy goat is actually a Markhor. Markhor is the national animal of Pakistan. Markhor is a local word which is derived from two words “Mar” means snake and “Khor” means eater. Markhors are mostly found in northern areas of Pakistan like Sakardu and Gilgit Baltistan.
Snakes are its favourite diet. It is said that when a Markhor eat a snake, the poison of that snake spreads in its body. Due to discomfort of poison markhor breaks into tears. So due to these tears all the poison gets out from markhor’s body and Markhor become normal again.
