I found this little bug in our backyard. I did not know the name of this big until I used my phone’s Google Lens.
This bug belongs to the Plataspidae family of bugs or also known as shield bugs. It’s just a little bigger than a ladybug.
I took this photo using my Huawei P30 lite.

Thanks, Carol. It is a very tiny bug. I believe, in the US there are different kinds of shield bugs.

I might have seen this before, but did not care enough to take a photo it.
There are quite a few different species of shield bugs. I haven’t seen the one in your photo but I have seen some others. In fact one showed up on my desk about two weeks ago.
Really. Actually this us the first shield bug that I took note of. I might have seen this before but never cared about it before.
I’m an insect fanatic so I look for these things.
