The sweet potato kept in storage has sprouted. This is the season when tubers sprout in storage We also have potatoes that have sprouted.
I sliced it off and have now kept it in water and placed it near the window. I see the sprouts growing at a rapid pace.
I have decided to plant them. We did that a couple of times and we harvested sweet potatoes once but then the mongoose appeared and dug out everything that we had planted. I will now have raised beds for this as I notice they only dig what is seen on the ground
This is the red variety but I prefer the yellow.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

I once planted a sweet potato that was brought by a friend from the province. Unfortunately it didn’t produce any bud.
You have to wait for it to sprout and then plant the pieces.
I love baked yellow sweet potatoes. We had them in the garden growing up.
Must have felt happy to see them down there. There is joy to dig them out.
I love sweet things just sweet potatoes I have never eaten and I probably won’t … potatoes be potatoes …
Actually they are not that sweet (lol)
I have taken a huge number of cuttings from sweet potatoes and planted them just last week. I am planning to use them as indoor plants.
They are creepers Dawn. How will you manage those creeper indoors?
I let them hang down from window sills and stair case grills. They looks so pretty. I will post a picture when My plants take off.
They are supposed to get a grip in the soil so that many sweet potatoes are produced. Using it is an ornament ofcourse is a different matter. You will get flowers as well.
They don’t bloom indoors as far as I have noticed. But they do have tiny sweet potatoes.
Good luck with your sweet potatoes.
I need that luck. Sometimes they never form.
