I grow chives each year in a container on my deck. I did not realize the chives bloomed until halfway through the first season. Such a lovely bloom. Amazing to learn about nature.
My sister always had an herb garden. She grew parsley, chives, garlic, all kinds of herbs. I always called her Martha Stewart. She could grow and cook anything.
This photo was obviously taken before the houses replaced the dairy farm behind my home. See how open and nice it was. No more. 35 homes are there enow. But I am surviving the change. I will plant more trees and flowers.

I can manage chives, but only in the house.
Mine do good on the deck during spring and summer.
You can grow things. My husband cringes if I even look at a plant! I have that black thumb!
I have learned with experience. It takes time.
The chive flowers are so pretty. Can the flowers be eaten, too , in salads?
Yes these are used in salads. The blooms were a bonus.
my dad had these towers for tomatoes on his back deck.
That is a great way to grow tomatoes.
my mom still uses them today!!!
I grow garlic chives and I cook with them a lot.
Deck planters are something we’ve managed to keep alive. I love the taste of fresh basil so tend to grow that.
They are easy and convenient. My Dad called his little garden his pot garden. 🙂 He kept his plants, tomatoes and peppers in pots, so it was easier to manage.
I also grow some herbs in my garden. But they are far away from blooming still.
That is great Fortune, I love them too.
I also have herbs in my garden every year. I also have some on the patio.
Great to hear, fresh herbs are so nice to have.
I have quite a few herbs planted in the garden …. sage, chives, thyme …
That is great, fresh is always better my friend.
I agree with you, my friend
I really looks open and nice. Not all changes are good, but it’s important that we adapt to them.
Thanks, I enjoyed it for a few years. Now the pine trees have grown along the back, so that helps.
