For dogs with thick coat, it is advised to have it groomed to avoid heat stroke during summer. Shearing or cutting the hair can relieve the dog of excessive heat although it depends on the country. But in tropical places dogs might not be able to survive without air conditioning or electric fan during summer.

we have labs so in spring and fall we have to brush/groom them every week. In the winter and summer, we only groom a couple of times. Lovely picture!
