For Music Lovers: Yanni, Live at the Acropolis

Are there any Yanni fans in the house?  There must be!  This Grammy-nominated artist enjoys international fame and has held concerts all around the world (30 countries on 5 continents).  His music career spans almost 5 decades.  One of my favorite performances was when he appeared at the Acropolis (recorded Sep 1993; album released Mar 1994). The show was spectacular!  I have the album in my CD collection.  Actually, I own several Yanni albums.  But if you don’t have any CDs, no worries. You can listen to many of his musical performances on YouTube.  Lots of concert clips that have been uploaded by his adoring fans.  However, after listening, you just might be tempted to purchase some Yanni albums to have in your personal music library.  You never know when you might lose access to the Internet and won’t be able to view and listen to online videos.   (* Image credit:  Amazon *)

  1. The first time I ever heard a Yanni recording was in 1988 at the World Figure Skating Championships during a segment on former U S Skater Debra “Debi” Thomas in the segment of her errors during the long program in the Winter Olympic Games in Calgary when the media just bashed her like she committed the unpardonable sin of not bringing home a gold medal in figure skating. Come on man. Give the kid a break.

    • Clearly that left a mark in your memory. LOL. For me, just the fact that Debi was an Olympian was awesome! Give her a break indeed. Considering that unlike most Olympic competitors she didn’t put all of he marbles in one basket. She was actually pursuing her degree in higher education while training to compete. She said it was her backup plan and it’s a good thing she had one. The work she does as a doctor after leaving the Olympics circle is just as impressive. But on the topic of Yanni, I can thank my husband for introducing me to his music. Thanks for commenting.
