Feeling Sad

I had a collection of more than 40 orchids of which only only a couple of orchids survived ( not counting the ground orchids)  after moving to our current residence.  The heat here is kind of unbearable as our home faces the West our balconies and pergola also face west unfortunately.

This year the temperatures have gone off the charts and no matter what I did to protect these orchids these have  also died. This morning  I noticed that all the leaves of my phalanopsis have fallen off, I had left them in the bathroom for the last couple of weeks  hoping that the humidity would help, but to no avail. I am not giving up I will keep the roots protected to see if they will regrow.

It makes me  sad to see this happen every year. I have decided that I will nit buy anymore orchids until I find a way to cut this heat out.

  1. There will probably be a lot of heat here in Spain this year as well. Flowers have a hard time surviving on my balcony in the summer. Now I have spring blooms and cacti. I’m sorry about the orchids and your whole beautiful garden.
