I had a collection of more than 40 orchids of which only only a couple of orchids survived ( not counting the ground orchids) after moving to our current residence. The heat here is kind of unbearable as our home faces the West our balconies and pergola also face west unfortunately.
This year the temperatures have gone off the charts and no matter what I did to protect these orchids these have also died. This morning I noticed that all the leaves of my phalanopsis have fallen off, I had left them in the bathroom for the last couple of weeks hoping that the humidity would help, but to no avail. I am not giving up I will keep the roots protected to see if they will regrow.
It makes me sad to see this happen every year. I have decided that I will nit buy anymore orchids until I find a way to cut this heat out.

Best to get them under shade if you can ..
every year I plant grass in the back yard. it dies every year.
Sorry to hear that! I love orchids and I can imagine how you feel.
Thank you so much, It really tough for me to see my plants die.
Plants are something we put a lot of effort, care and love in, it’s tough indeed.
There will probably be a lot of heat here in Spain this year as well. Flowers have a hard time surviving on my balcony in the summer. Now I have spring blooms and cacti. I’m sorry about the orchids and your whole beautiful garden.
The sun does kill when it get too hot, take care of your plants.
So sorry about your orchids. I have lost many plants, shrubs and trees over the years. Many times due to weather. I hope things get better for you.
Thanks Carol, I guess I was a bit too sad.
I had an orchid of the same color as yours for four years. It died this year. I’m still trying to bring it back to life but I don’t think I will succeed. Maybe orchids are getting older too!?
I have had orchids that were 8 -10 years old, here its just the heat.
