Hearing of others in desperate need, whether it’s a governmental breakdown or a natural disaster, is heartbreaking. We often wish we knew of something we could do that would really help.
Knowing what would help and what would actually hinder is important before making the decision to reach out. For instance, if we do not understand the need or know that the people we are trusting to help in tandem with us are doing what they say we can make the situation worse by creating more problems or misusing financial resources.
These concerns do not need to worry us if we determine to work with a valid local, national, or international organization. A little research on any group to make sure they are doing what they should in using funds and other resources properly (and getting positive results) is not difficult in this day of online accountability.
April is national volunteer month. Deciding now to be a part of something bigger than ourselves and help provide for someone in desperate need is the best way to be ready for April and carry the theme of volunteerism throughout the year.

I have not heard of some of these but that is no excuse.
How nice to be able to introduce you to the ones you weren’t aware of! Thanks for letting us hear from you on this post.
All great causes, but a few I have never heard of before.
Thanks for letting us know that you learned of new organizations reaching out to help others.
I am a member of the central board of NGOs and Community Organizations in my country. There is always so much to do for many people. Great post, Roberta
That you serve your community that way is great. Thanks for checking this post out.
You are most welcome, Roberta. A lot of important things to do but too little what I can do.
Oh but one person cannot do it all. It takes many working together, which is what makes working with sound organizations so important.
I work with local charities and help groups, food bank and etc. I do check them out completely and I am well trained.
Good job on all that. Enjoy celebrating in April and encouraging others to do volunteer work. Thank you for checking out this post.
I am always willing to lend a hand.
That’s wonderful, you can celebrate in April and encourage others to volunteer in some way. . Thanks for stopping by.
