Greek women had virtually no political rights of any kind and were controlled by men at nearly every stage of their lives. The most important duties for a city-dwelling woman were to bear children–preferably male–and to run the household.

  1. Yes, this is very informative and very interesting. Thanks for writing it. I love the history of ancient Greece, I have studied a lot their Literature, philosophy or politics. The western world comes from Ancient Greece, they invented society.
