Sleep overs were quite common in the good old days We cousins always spent nights in each other’s homes.
This cousin the only child came over to spend a few days with us. She was fascinated with our well. She saw how the older folk were drawing water from the well. She said she too wanted to do it and we gave her a small pot.
She was quite happy playing there. We were inside helping mother with the cooking. After a while she came inside and said “I am going home” She was crying. Thinking that she was missing her parents she was escorted home.
A couple of days later mother was searching for that pot which she had given the cousin to play with. It could not be found but there it was right down in the well
Each time we do something wrong we use that phrase “I am going home”

I think childhood memories are just wonderful,
It is new to me, that phrase you use when you commit a mistake.
That became a norm here after that cousin said she was going home after sinking that pot in the well. (lol)
We played well together, a lot of cousins around and my older brother. I learned a lot from my brother.
Phrases as we see are born in households. Did you have any of your own.
Good story. I think, we all have what to share from our childhood.
