Canna is a common trpical flowering plant. It comes in red , yellow and orange colors, often they have a combination of colors too. This is one is so different from the usual.
These plants grow from rhizomes and are pretty easy to grow. They do quite well in ponds too. These are basically tropical plants which have adapted themselves to all kinds of climates now. However, they need 6-8 of sunshine to thrive.
They have broad attractive leaves, some are variegated and some come in reddish brown shades. They are easy to grow and are not prone to diseases. Slugs and snails are the only things to attack them.
These plants are given as father’s day gift in Thailand. The seeds, which are really hard are used as beads in Jewelry . I have seen nuns make rosaries with the seeds. when I was a kid.

It is not found in my area but in nurseries
Yeah this one was in the nursery , but very expensive.

You have some choice flowers in your garden. We used to have plenty of them before but now I cannot even find a rhizome to plant.
Sorry Grace, this one is from the nursery, it was too heavily priced. so I didn’t buy it. These cultivars are pricey indeed.
They are a common garden plant in the USA. I don’t know where they grow naturally.
Canna is a common garden plant here too, but these cultivars are not.
I’ve never seen this cultivar either. All I’ve ever seen were red or red and orange.
