Another bird to share with my Birds of the Alphabet series.
KILLDEER
Funny story. While I was going down the list of the birds I remember the killdeer birds.
We had these birds in our yard a few years ago. I had never seen their behavior. After researching I found they lay their eggs on the ground. Amazing right!
Here is a post from two years ago. I talk about the mysterious behavior of these birds. You might find it interesting. I certainly did. Always fun to learn about nature around you.
After reading some of the old comments on the post, I am reminded of how many members have disappeared from the site. They are all greatly missed.

I don’t recall ever seeing killdeer birds here. They are pretty birds.
They are usually shore birds, but no water here and I see them every year.
That is very interesting! I’ve never even heard of them before.
I remember that post. Such amazing birds!
Yes they are amazing at their behavior.
wow I do remember that article and the strange behavior of Killdeer. They, like some birds have that willingness to let the egg roll where it may!
Yes and I learned so much form the comments here. Nature is so amazing.
it is funny how much you can learn sometimes.
I used to learn very single day here.
i still do! you just have to look harder now!
I don’t know this bird and it is a very interesting bird …. I learned a lot of new things
It is a very cool bird, amazing how it survives.
Interesting looking birds and a very strange name for them,
Yes I thought so as well. The killdeer’s name is suggestive of its loud insistent whistle. And it is loud too. All through the night.
I learned a lot of new things and met another wonderful bird.
Well good, I always look forward to seeing you and your comment.
