This is one of the many photos I was taking when the hawk flew into the tree yesterday. The bees are enjoying my Autumn Joy sedum on my deck. I really need to plant it in the garden for next year. It is growing so big for the deck. Can you see the sedum is starting to change colors? It is a subtle change to a darker pink and it is not done yet.
I have become kind of sort of friends with these bees, my camera and I. As long as I move slowly and make no sudden moves they don’t seem to mind my presence. And I am thankful for that. Nature is amazing and even incredible up close.

I am too busy to do the JFF right now, but hopefully I remember in a week or so
A busy man you are… and we all understand
my schedule is so horked
Also I am a friend of nature, but the bees prefer to withdraw
Withdraw? This one was out all over my blooms.
I do not want to make friends with bees lol because I am allergic to bee stings If it stings me I could land in the hospital.
I mean from a photography standpoint. I don’t want to get too close either. I still keep my distance and use my zoom lens.
That’s the reason why we need to love the nature. c”,)
I completely agree with you Shavkat.
Thank you for agreeing, my friend.
A few years ago I was photographing a bumble bee in a public park when a stranger asked me if I don’t get stung a lot. I told him that I’d been photographing bees since 1970 and have never been stung once.
I know what you are saying. I think it’s because of our approach. As a photographer we know our limits… most of the time. You have to be quiet and move slowly even to get a butterfly photo.
I find that they are generally pretty calm. When I was a kid we used to collect honeybees by lightly stepping on them. Barefoot. Only got stung once and my mother was not particularly happy about it.
They really are unless you invade their space. I was stung by a hornet once, will never forget that pain.
I’ve never had that particular pleasure but I understand it’s painful.
A pain you will never forget.
That’s good that you have somewhat become friends with the bees. I don’t think I could ever become that close to them! Great photo by the way!
Well my camera actually stands in between us, i still respect them and do not want to get stung. Thank you.
I know, and I am also a friend of nature – I also look after her
And I am so glad you do, more people would do the same.
