Blue Jays prefer tray feeders or hopper feeders on a post rather than hanging feeders, and they prefer peanuts, sunflower seeds, and suet. Planting oak trees will make acorns available for jays of the future. Blue Jays often take drinks from birdbaths.
The photo above was taken this morning from my deck feeder. It was taken inside from behind my patio doors. Love to see these blue beauties at my feeder. I feed them whole unsalted peanuts and unsalted sunflower seeds.
The photo below is a map of where you can find these birds.

Beautiful picture Carol. I know how tricky it is to take pictures of birds.
Unfortunately not, but I always enjoy seeing them through your beautiful photos!
You are so kind Ellie. Always good to see you.
Awe, how beautiful! We have breeding pairs here. Not sure about that map. 🙂
I love these blue jays Kim, so stunning. So you do have them in your state?
Yes Ma’am, we have breeding pair that try to use our try out back, I have to chase them off or the cats will get them. They fuss at me constantly.
That is so cool Kim, they are beautiful birds.
A very good looking Blue Jay.
Yes they are stunning birds.
That is something that we agree upon.
I love this photo, and my mom gets them a lot.
Thanks, I love seeing them.
In our country, we do not have these wonderful birds
I am sorry, you can see through my photos.
A very beautiful bird visited you my friend
Yes these jays visit each day, many times a day I watch them from my window.
Very nice and interesting visits
Where is the cute guy hiding when it snows and the weather is cold?
Exactly where he is in this photo. At my bird feeder. It has ben sleeting but no snow yet. And the temperatures are in the 20s and 30s. Pretty cold and he appears each day at the feeder. And he sleeps in the trees in my backyard.
Your trees make him feel at home
I have to agree with you my friend.
Carol you’re so lucky to have all these different birds hang out in your backyard.
Good to see you Bradley. I feel blessed. I feed and water them and they thank me by visiting.
