Another Salad Product Health-Related Recall

On November 21, 2019, a recall of a product called Ready Pac Bistro Chicken Raised Without Antibiotics Caesar Salad got a government recall for 75,233 pounds of this product. An unopened package was tested at random and when the individual ingredients were tested. lettuce tested positive for the E. coli O157:H7 virus. This virus can cause symptoms ranging from diarrhea to vomiting and in extreme cases, kidney failure.

People with any of these symptoms are being advised to seek medical care immediately.

This recall impacts retail locations in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin. The packages carried the EST number 18502B. All products from the same lot of lettuce are under recall.

There is no information in regard to how many people have actually been infected with the virus and recalls like this are primarily a preventative measure. There is also no indication that any other ingredient other than lettuce tested positive. Still, this is a lot of salad. Hopefully, they caught this before it had the chance to become a problem.
