The Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) is one of the oldest conferences in college basketball with the conference starting in the 1940’s. Murray State will look to repeat as OVC champions, but Ja Morant is playing for the Memphis Grizzlies right now.
The first round of the OVC Basketball Championship presented by TicketSmarter will be played at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana. The coolest part about the OVC men’s basketball tournament is that the bracket is set up in such a way that the regular season actually means something. Only the top 8 of the 12 teams in the OVC qualify for the tournament.
Also, the OVC is the originator of the double bye in conference tournaments. The top two seeds receive a double bye into the semifinals. Here is the first round schedule. This tournament is always fun to watch because there have been teams in the past that have played a first-round game, but still won the tournament over teams with more rest.
#5 Tennessee State (TSU) vs #8 Morehead State – 6:30 PM EST
#6 Eastern Illinois (EIU) vs #7 Jacksonville State – 8:30 PM EST

Gonna go with TSU, and of course EIU
I’m surprised EIU qualified for this tournament because they normally do not end up in the top 8. They did win last night so they play again tonight
Nice! I was tracking the Illini game after seeing that they were playing against Ohio St. I think they did pretty well.
this one is tough, last year they had a dominant NBA ready player, this year I don’t see one…
It’s strange that this conference does not have really strong teams nor a player that is headed to the NBA Draft. Nevertheless, Belmont and Murray State are #1 and #2 again
It is one of those interesting arguments but in the end, they do tend to have 4, 5 year players.
Morehead state and Jacksonville state will win because they sound better than TSU and EIU
Is there a college in Spain called Mucha Cabeza
No, I do not think so. Colleges usually have the name of the city in which they are. Besides, mucha cabeza sounds very colloquial. “Plenty of head”
You could change the university name game in Spain. You could run a college and name the college Universidad de la Sangria or Universidad del Gazpacho.
Yes, you are right. But I do not like gazpacho, nothing at all, gazpacho is popular in the south of Spain where they can´t breathe in August because of the hot. I like Sangría and its summer version “Tinto de Verano”. Do you eat Gazpacho in America?? Do you drink sangría?? I know foreign tourists love sangría when they visit Spain, but I cannot even smell gazpacho. The truth is colleges do not have special names, always serious names. Cities or the name of a person.
We do not eat gazpacho in the USA; we normally eat tomato soup warm instead of cold. Sangria definitely gets people tipsy in the USA.
