2019 Heisman Trophy Top Contenders

When the 2019 season opened everyone had their eye on Tua Tagovailoa from Alabama.  He was at the top of the list for the award.  Other candidates in the mix were Justin Fields from Ohio State, Jalen Hurts from Oklahoma and Joe Burrow from LSU.

After the tenth week of college football, and Tua’s injury, LSU’s Joe Burrow’s name has emerged as the possible top candidate.  Many analysts have said that Burrow is the best candidate for the award.  He has put up at least 275 passing yards in each game this season so far.  Burrow also has four interceptions, and 30 touchdowns so far for the season.  In pass completions, Burrow’s numbers are outstanding at 78.8% of completed passes.  Burrow has also broken several team records this season, including total yardage for completed passes.

Jalen Hurts, quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners, is going to be putting his skills to test Saturday, November 9, 2019 in trying to break his own personal record of number of passing yards for the season.  He is only 312 yards away and plans on setting a new record in the Iowa game.

Justin Fields, quarterback for Ohio State, has 33 touchdown to his credit and one interception.  He has not gone over 250 yards in a game yet this season, but has an excellent opportunity to up the score in the last two games of the season between Maryland and Rutgers.  Both games are expected to be big wins for Ohio State.

Tua Tagovailoa is entering the game on November 11, 2019 against LSU recovering from an ankle injury.  It has been disclosed that Tua will plat against the Tigers.  This was of course expected after missing the game last week.  He is one game down on statistics and sitting out another game would hurt his chances of advancing to the final round.  Tua returned to practice on Thursday and is eager to face the Tigers.  If Alabama wins the game, Tua would more than likely return to the frontrunner in the race for the Heisman.

Now that we have highlighted the top quarterbacks, let’s focus on Chase Young, Defensive End, from Ohio State.  Young is also in the running for the Heisman and wants to be in the top three to tie the record with Manti Te’o from Notre Dame made in 2012.  Young is responsible for being one of the best defensive player to force fumbles and in sacks.

Who will win the Heisman?  We will just have to wait and see!!  However, you can cast your vote below and we can see if our poll matches the final.

  1. Burrow won the Heisman on Saturday. Tua is playing hurt and Young has been suspended by the NCAA for taking out a loan two years ago even though he paid it back.

    • No problem! You would have to keep up with the Collegiate football teams in the US to know them! Glad you found me here too! I would have never found you with a different user name!

  2. Being an Alabama fan, I have to go with Tua. However, Jalen is from Alabama and was our quarterback for awhile, so he could win as well. They are all good candidates.

    • If you have been keeping up with statistics you would know that the best candidate at present is Joe Burrow and he is in the lead of analysts because of his record and stats. You are right though, they are all good. It will be interesting to see who the final 3 are that get to make the trip to NYC.
