So here is the raw render, and while it does showcase the subway background, it just seems a little flat and uninspired. It needed something else but it took me a while to figure out exactly what that might be

Could you be more specific? I can only see what is wrong with it…
I tried backing it out and that didn’t work. This technique is pretty much all or nothing…
I really invested some time in the weave material
Fortunately I have the right temperament for tweaking surface settings…

it does, but has the same level of detail as the foreground, which tends to flatten out a piece…
