I love fresh asparagus.
It is way early yet, but I’d expect to start getting fresh asparagus around the first of April, give or take a week or two.
Love asparagus but here it is not good quality and expensive. I have looked for frozen with no luck. I have found jarred but they are much too mushy.
Asparagus tends to grow best where the winters are cold and the summers are hot. They can be canned so they aren’t mushy, but most commercial companies that sell asparagus usually over-process it, which results in the mushy texture.
I haven’t tried these either…I’m scared to though even though I know they are healthy
You’ll never know if you don’t try them. This is another veggie that I like steamed, with a pat of butter. For many people, though, asparagus is an acquired taste.
I heard with butter it’s good…all I can do is try….my son loves asparagus
It sounds like you have an opportunity, then. You could try them and if you didn’t like them, your son could eat the rest. lol
Good point, I could do that…now I just need to get over the fear of trying them lol
Love asparagus chilled with Italian dressing so good!
We usually cook them, but very often we have a lot of them to work with. LOL They grow wild here, I have an asparagus bed, and a lady from church that I occasionally do gardening work for has a huge asparagus bed, so we often have plenty.
What I wouldn’t give to be your neighbor.
LOL…I wouldn’t hesitate to give you some, Trenna!
i like eating them raw, like celery and carrots, a part of my evening crunch snack bowl when watching a good movie.
I’m just hoping that my asparagus comes up this spring.
