Today’s wander in both words and pictures is a trip up the Severn River in Annapolis Maryland. The river flows past Annapolis and then into the Chesapeake Bay. What it flows past the original land grant was given to the US Navy to begin a school for sailors. It flows past one of the original ports in the young fledgling United States (Annapolis). We had thought about going on the river cruise many times, mostly using our boat. But with our current dry dock situation, we decided to do the cruise.
Plus, we were looking for an event to document for my 100th Yelp cruise. This felt like the perfect way to spend the day. 100th review, first river cruise review and first time going up the Severn River in Maryland. Plus the boat we were on had a full bar. I wasn’t driving the boat, so the reality of don’t drink and drive was lifted. They even had craft beer, which in my book is so much more critical than well, having crappy traditional American beer. All the trips to Europe over the years spoiled me for beer.
The boat, basically a converted yacht, was a 60 footer. There were two outside and two inside seating areas. We choose to head up and towards the stern of the boat. We waited dutifully in line with all the other folks. I took a few boarding pictures to start off the picture share! Then we boarded the boat. As we pulled out of the slip I was really impressed by how well the captain used the bow thruster on the ship to bring us around. Then we were off on our river cruise.
