March once had four birthday celebrations for our family. It still has four, but not the same now as it was. The funny thing is all three of my grandparent’s male grandchildren were born in March. (The girls have birthdays in many months). So March birthday celebrations were often interesting. Having a birthday that is close to Christmas, I think I understand how my father felt, suddenly having to share that special day with other people.
It is still a little harder to write about march than it once was. I shifted the focus to my blogs after my father died. First, the project focused on my memories of him, stories of him and of course pictures of dad. Then I expanded it to start sharing some of the many wonderful pictures he took over the years. The fun for me of the family history project is that occasionally I get and find pictures from long ago that remind me of things that once were.
In fairness to the twins, however, my nephew also has a March birthday He arrived before my daughter arrived.
There are things we sometimes remember, things that make us smile. Things sometimes that make us cry. I know the memories of the past are doors we sometimes want to keep closed. Opening them makes the pain more real. But sometimes you have to take a moment and remember.
Interesting post. I know quite a few people who have birthdays in March, my husband and his father and my husbands son a few women.
It was funny to me that all of the grandsons and my father were born in March (none of my brother-in-laws or myself were born in March)
