Tips for Hiking Diamond Head, Honolulu

Diamond head is one of the most famous landmarks on Oahu and the entire state of Hawaii. The trail is man made with railings and easy to navigate. If you’re nervous about making the attempt you should really give it a try. Finishing the Diamond Head hike definitely rewards you with a spectacular view of Honolulu. It was breathtaking!

-Take cash – it is a few dollars a person to get in and they didn’t accept credit card.

-Go there early! Diamond heads opens at 6am.

-The view is worth it but you must be able to handle some steep parts of the path and large sets of stairways.

-Bring water. Besides at the trailhead info station, there is no water available.

-Yes, it does get crowded so prepare yourself mentally for that

-WEAR SHOES WITH TRACTION – such as hiking shoes or even running shoes.

-I would NOT recommend this for small children. We saw several families with very small children in tow.

    • Thank you, it’s definitely a must visit place if you’re in Oahu. There’s a lot of stairs towards the top, but the views are worth it.
