I have been going through some of my old archivese and about 4 years ago our Sunday drive took us to South East Auckland – to Beachlands. Its on the Waitemata Harbour.
This is put in two parts for their are 2 public entrances to Beachlands park although you could walk there.
These photos I will walk you through and you can travel with me to this beautiful and underestimated area of Auckland. Its also a long drive from Onehunga where I live.
Must mention that in order to travel hassle free in Auckland today, best to have your own car or rent one for the visit. Public transport is not the best and not the most reliable.
#1 Looking down the hill to a beach
No, its not private beach but today I was the only one there. Thats how we like it in New Zealand to be there by ourselves, even if the beach does not belong to us.
#2 Looking down the hill and at the branches of the Pohutakawa tree.
#3 Going down and looking up a Black & white experiment
#4 Still Going down
#5 Tyre on Pohutakawa Branch
Guess what the tyre is, one of my earliest memories is swinging from sand to beach on a tyre tied to a branch of a Pohutakawa tree.
#6 Looking south across the beach
#7 Another view of the tyre on the beach.
#8 Another south view of the beach.
#9 North view of beach and building
I don't know what the building is for and I would say no one lives there. It looked neglected.
Meant to say, in New Zealand visiting any beach is free. Legally all the public can go for free.
However, some Maori beaches which are isolated and are few. Lets say it's best to keep away from unless you have their permission.
waow the angle is no nice that make it heaven
When one is alone with the sea they can talk to him in incomprehensible language in no other language.
Thanks so much Elenka, I feel that the sea is part of who I am.
