True. I’m planning to have one or two for my son.
For that I would recommend a tortoise. Aquatic turtles are cheaper but they are difficult to care for properly. You need a large aquarium with a high-powered filter, one especially designed for turtle tanks, or it will smell awful in a week.
A tortoise just has to be kept warm, get UV light (the bulbs can be purchased at a pet store or Amazon.Com), fed and have the poop removed every couple of days.
Oh yeah, although any turtle might bite, aquatic turtles tend to be a bit nastier.
