Sumac (Rhus sp.) (2007-10-20 09-24-41a)
Order Sapindales : Family Anacardiaceae : Genus Rhus
The photo was taken at Montrose Point in Lincoln Park, Chicago, Illinois.
I used a Panasonic DMC-FZ50 camera to take the photo. Then I used Luminar 2018 to add the Accent and Microstructure filters, decrease the exposure -33 ev, lower the highlights and boost the contrast, clarity and vibrance.

Thanks, Georgi. I’m glad you liked it.
Very interesting looking … hmm never seen these before
They are fairly common in the midwestern USA.
Nice I like it looking…..great
Thank you, Munish. I appreciate it.
Great photo. I remember my son being highly allergic to this plant and was in the emergency room a couple of times.
There is a poison sumac which produces a rash like poison ivy. I’m not sure – and I wouldn’t want to be the one to test it – but I don’t think all sumacs are like that. My knowledge of trees is severely limited.
I did not know there were different types. Interesting. They were always in the woods with the poison ivy.
Fine photograph there Gary. Love the colors!!
Thanks, Kim. I appreciate it.
