A bird that lives in the water with long legs, often in pairs is the Grey Heron. Actually, some call it the White Faced Grey Heron, or Blue Heron but I know it as the Grey Heron.
I saw a pair last year in Mangere Bridge. I noticed all along the water front of Mangere Bridge every now and then there are 2 Grey Herons together. Each have their own space and defend their space, some how managing to share it with different bird species or marine animals.
It is amazing to watch them fly, they are all muscle and strong fliers and quiet as they fly.
#1 A pair of Grey Herons on the rocks
Here you see them on the rocks, all living things together, what the yellow living organism is on the rock, I am not sure, neither do I know what seems to be as seaweed or grass like on the rocks and oyster shells.
Other small marine creatures that are not seen are inside the weeds or rocks and the Grey Herons see what they are when we don't .
