Run confession

I have lived all over the United States due to serving in the military for twelve years, and have been exposed to many different parks throughout places that I have lived. Needless to say that it is hard to pick out a favorite due to being exposed to many, however all have had peculiar things about them, and all brought that escape from reality that, I, and I’m sure many others need every now and then. With that being said ‘Humboldt Park’ became one of those spots very quickly.

I’m not sure how others feel about Humboldt Park, but I get that urge of peace when I run through the park itself. It really does not seem that huge when you look at it from a satellite angle, but it feels large when you are running along the mini paths within. The elements within, such as the mini lagoons, sculptures, and formal gardens are things that never get old to me. The key take-a-way is peace because I see artists at peace; runners & walkers at peace, plus families relaxing and barbecuing/picnicking at peace, which of course puts me at peace too. I have not lived on the West side of Chicago that long, but for the time being ‘Humboldt Park’ is currently one of my favorite get-a-way from reality run spots.

Path

  1. I see the recycle bins are the same color there as here. Love the tree shadows. Makes one wonder if the smaller lines on the path are cracks in the walkway or part of the shadow. I’m voting for cracks.
