This I chose as it is the easiest to grow in Auckland.
You simply take a cutting, put the end in the ground and it grows into a lovely pink bush. It mostly flowers all year round.
However, our soil where we live in beautiful volcanic soil and well drained. Some areas of Auckland have clay soil and it is harder to grow things, infact some buy top soil and create a garden from that.
I could say that New Lynn has lovely clay soil that used to be used for Auckland’s “Crown Lynn Potteries” that biggest china crockery industry in the Southern hemisphere.
Then the Unions demanded that the Crown Lynn Potteries workers got more pay rises, It got more expensive to buy pottery, and then our NZ dropped our protection for our own industries. So China has cheaper pottery and they pay their workers 2 cents an hour. So Crown Lynn Potteries went out of business.
