Monsoon in San Diego?

Yes, we have monsoons in San Diego California. We call these storms The Southwest Monsoon,  and The Mexican Monsoon. Below is a late afternoon shot.

They come in July and last until September. They help battle the threat of wild fires here, and also cause some with the lightening strikes that can occur. Our neighbors in Arizona get all the show while some actually make it over to our area. Here is a pre-dawn photo.

During monsoon, thunderstorms are fueled by daytime heating and build up during the late afternoon-early evening and dissipate by late night to repeat the cycle the next day.

I really enjoy watching the storms and clouds and thought I would share some with you!

Thank you for taking the time to check out my photos. Have a great day!
