Mallard /male/.
Breeds in Europe, Asia and North America, Southern Greenland and North Africa.
It inhabits a variety of wetlands, spillages of rivers, freshwater, brackish and salt water basins.
It is most common in planar parts.
In summer time the elderly birds are dull.
In June the males gather in flocks in large swamps and lakes with a tall reed where almost all of their tail and wing feathers fall.
They lose their ability to fly for about half a month.
During this time, they hide and difficult to be found until they grow summer plumage, which resembles the color of the female.
Very beautiful picture!
I’m glad you like it!
I had seen a lot of different ducks when I went to Lithuania. I even saw a diving duck… so cute.
For a handful of beans make great dives 🙂
These mallards are so beautiful, great photo.
Depending on the light of the males, the color of the feathers on the head changes to blue-violet
Awesome picture, love the leaves on the water!
Yes! An interesting photo was taken 😉
I would go well beyond interesting. Good job!!!
Nice photo. Mallards are very common in my area. They aren’t particularly shy, either.
In autumn I was in the Danube delta and there were wild. This is photographed in a city park.
They can be found almost anywhere in the Chicago area that’s within about a mile of water which, in Chicago, is almost everywhere.
they are cute. there are many in my area, as well as geese.
This one is shot in one of the parks of Sofia 🙂
