In the immediate vicinity of my home stands another beautiful castle – Brdo Castle.
The castle is located in a beautiful park and in the immediate vicinity of the Brdo Park. Today, the Brdo pri Kranju Castle with the spacious, well-kept park and forests is the best known and best equipped protocol building in Slovenia, as well as a popular place for weddings, congress events or Saturday excursions.
Brdo Castle is a Renaissance mansion, which was built in the early 16th century. The castle with four towers was historically home to various nobles of the time. It housed famous aristocratic families, among which is especially important Zois family, then the family Karadjordjevic. The family is a castle and the land has been transformed thoroughly and Brdo has become one of the most beautiful properties in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. With the arrival of Zois, Brdo achieved international fame, here the world-famous botanist Baron Karel Zois also arranged the first Alpine botanical garden.
Today is the most important protocol Brdo Castle facility in Slovenia, organized at the highest level. Throughout its history it has hosted presidents, kings and diplomats from around the world. In addition to the role played by the state protocol, the Brdo Castle is also known for preserving the cultural heritage.
