I really loved the idea of ‘Virtual NYRR Black Lives Matter 1 Mile’ and just had to participate in it, especially because it did not cost me any money. I did go through hell trying to register for it on the New York Road Runners website which was set up exactly like registering for a race, but I went through with it. With my race season pretty much up in the air, I would like to register for these Strava virtual races on a monthly basis because they are keeping my competitive spirit high. Far from my personal best (5:11), but it surely felt great hammering out a one mile run at an uncomfortable pace.

I am hoping for more as the months go on. I’m doing to directly message Strava telling them thank you for these virtual race features because they keep me inspired to run during this pandemic. It is the only way we can stay competitive against others since we aren’t able to meet up for competitions. And Strava is worldwide.
there is a virtual 10k I am eyeing coming up. I just have to figure out if the timing works for me
