The workout

It has been a while since I have took the bike out without wearing my clip in cleats. It feels so weird without them because my feet have gotten so used to being locked into the pedals, so without them I feel vulnerable without that extra leverage while in motion.

I procrastinated on getting out before noon, but best believe I was going to out get eventually. I took the bike on my out-and-back route headed downtown Chicago – Loop. As the days go on there are more vehicles out on the roads as well as more pedestrians, so my alertness continues to increase because at any minute a vehicle or a pedestrian that is not paying attention can dart out in front of the bike path.

We have had bikers get ran over in scenarios like this because they were not visible to vehicles ; some bikers even try darting up trying to pass the vehicle before it turns. What I like to do is hang out behind the vehicle whether large or small before it turns because the thought of being ran over by a large vehicle like this is not very settling.
