Are you a puppet? Think about everything you’ve bought last week, the choices you’ve made, the places you’ve visited, the favors you’ve made, and then answer the question.
The chances are you are a puppet and you are not even aware of that! It’s all about the tactics and the strategies. These tactics are usually stronger than the normal techniques for convincing. So in order to take the control over your life it is important to know what are the things that have a huge influence over your mental process.
1. An award
If you do something, you are given an award in return. For example, in a shop, you are about to buy a pair of boots for 500$ and you are told that you are given another pair for free, only if you buy the first pair. Actually what you do is, you overpay the first ones. Bare this in mind.
2. A gift
This is the most popular one. You are given a gift “for no reason”. Wait for it! Wait for it! After a while you are asked to sign something, to agree with something, to go somewhere, to reveal something, to stay quiet… Ohh these manipulative yet creative minds….
3. Positive characteristics
Of course everyone loves himself and thinks best of himself. However, some businesses are making a great use of this. For example a bank will tell you that you are intelligent, only and only if you sign the contract where you agree to do a long-term plan with them. Guess who’s stuck!!?
Therefore, before you react-think! Before you cure it-avoid it!
I find that when I am very tired I may give in to something. But if I am very aware I stand my ground and do not give in. I stand up for myself but lots of times I stand alone in my fight.
These are the trade tricks we all know-sorry
We all know a lot of things we do not pay attention on! This does not count as knowing! 🙂
I totally agree with you
I agree, you never get anything free.
Said but true. Most of the time we are not even aware that we are doing it as well. We all are like programmed.
If I give tokens to students who performed the best am I manipulating them?
Actually I am not a refferee. Think about the reason behind it, the reason you are doing it and there lies the answer. I guess it depends on the student as well.
I always believe in positive reinforcement. I hope it is how it is perceived by students who received it and for those who are not will be challenged to do better next time.
