The song was released in 1971 by the Dutch band The Cats. It was the biggest hit of the band, written by Arnold Mühren, bass-player and chief composer. The song was released in 38 countries, and became a top ten number in several of them, and No.1 in Switzerland. The single reached No.1 also in Germany, being sold there over a million copies.
Many other artists, including Demis Roussos, were recorded covers after the original version of The Cats, and after they disbanded, the former lead vocalist, Piet Veerman used to perform this song during his solo career.
Will undoubtedly remain one of the most beautiful and romantic songs ever written.
