10 most shocking films: 9. Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom, 1975

It’s a controversial 1975 Italian film written and directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini. The film is based on the story of the book with the same name.

Since the film is full of violence, sadism, and sexual cruelty, the film has been considered controversial since its release and so far there are countries where this film is banned.

This is the last work of the director Pasolini. He was killed before the premiere of the film.

The film focuses on the rich and corrupt Italy controlled by fascist Nazi in 1944, where eighteen girls and boys are kidnapped. They are all locked together for four months and are physically and psychologically tortured until they are killed one by one.

The film deals with the topics of political corruption, fascism, sadism and the exploitation of power.

Although the work is still considered controversial even today, it is certainly praised by film critics. The film is not considered a typical horror film, but there is abundant of horror. So, again, I recommend it only to the true horror movies fans.

And again I am struggling to add photos not to shock my readers.
