The Story of Mine with the 20 Memorable Places in the Philippines

Local travelling had been memorable to me way back when I was working at my beloved home country — Philippines. It’s been how many years  since I’ve missed travelling . Back those days when I was younger and  had a privilege to travel and discover best spots to hang out within the city where I was assigned for a service job.

Philippines is an archipelago consisting of 7, 107 islands. So imagine out of these 20 local places I’ve been through, there’s a lot of islands that Philippines can offer  for  your obsession to travel or the wanderlust within you. From Luzon, Visayas, to Mindanao — these three main islands that embody an  archipelago will surely take you somewhere you have never been.

Although there are best places in the Philippines that are renowned worldwide among others yet I haven’t been there, I just would like to share these 20 memorable places that I’ve locally  traveled, despite not all of the places I’ve been through will be featured here. These are only the best picks in my travel album, either I was there on my photo or just me taking a photo shot (without me in the photo). All of these photos are my own original content.

So come on, hand over with me and we’ll take a glimpse with these 20 memorable places in the Philippines that I’m going to share with you. Let’s do the jaunts and journey!

Enjoy and vote for your best picks!

#1 The Cube @ SM City Seaside, Cebu

Known as the Queen City of the South, Cebu has lots to offer when it comes to tourism. In this picture is a magnum opus, that became one of the signature structures of Cebu -- the Cube. The reason why cube? It's because when you try to arrange the letters of Cebu, you will get an anagram of the word "Cube". So maybe that's the story behind that. This Cube is a sculptural art of steel that resembles Cebuanos resilience and stability despite of numerous storms that came by to ruin the beauty of the city.

#2 People’s Park @ Davao City

Worthy to be dubbed as the cleanest and the safest park in the Philippines. Why? because of its landscaped greenery plus security cameras elsewhere inside the park, this one's really one of the people's safest havens aside from being a theme park. In this picture was a giant structure of an eagle, which is found mostly in Davao flying somewhere around Mount Apo, the highest peak in the country. Davao City is also famous for its durian, a sweet fruit that has a pungent smell.
And one more thing about Davao is that, the recent Philippine president named Rodrigo Duterte lives here. He once ran the city as a mayor who advocates against drugs, thus earning him the million votes among Filipinos when he ran for the national election as the highest position in the Philippine government --- the Republican president. No doubt, because of him Davao City had been ranked as the ninth safest city in the world by Numbeo.com.
So guys, don't forget this People's Park on your bucket list coz this one's certainly made for the people.

#4 Yexel’s Toy Museum @ Manila Ocean Park, Manila

Well, sounds like this one is not a natural spot in the Philippines. Yes, it is. This photo is taken inside Yexel's Toy Museum, a toy gallery and museum where kids will surely love to hang out (though I'm not a kid already haha). An armory of Iron Man's replica of body suits inside this toy museum really made me get my best pose, as if claiming myself as a superhero too, like Tony Stark aka The Iron Man. It was one of my best memories too, since I got a chance to have a photo shot souvenir with Yexel Sebastian, its toy museum owner and was once Philippine's actor who lately dedicated himself to toy collection. This place is just one of Manila Ocean Park's best getaways. From Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and other TV shows and movies' memorabilias and replicas, this one fits in if selfies and groufies are your favorite subjects.

#5 Capitol Park and Lagoon @ Bacolod City

Bacolod City is also known as The City of Smiles. It's the capital city of Negros Occidental, and this is the province where I was born. Sugarcanes are the abundant products that we have here. Canes are being harvested by local sakadas, then deliver it to the sugar mill plant, and processed into either brown sugar or refined it into white sugar leaving the molasses as by-products. Bacolod City is famous for its Masskara festival, a mardi gras festival held annually at the third week of October.
This photo was taken at Capitol Park and Lagoon, a people's park for Negrenses that offers free pass and good to hang out with friends like I have here on this picture. According to 2016 The Conyo Times survey, Bacolod City is the best place to live in the Philippines. And I was grateful for that, coz the crime rate is minimally low and expect the cleanliness within the city too.
So try to be here and experience a utopia-like vacay on one of our own Bacolod City.

#6 Mount Sabrina Panoramic View and Resort @ Gensan, South Cotabato

One of the unique swimming pools you have seen is shaped like a fish. It's rarely seen anywhere else in the world. GenSan is short for General Santos City, a hometown of the famous Filipino boxer named Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao. This pool is located inside this Mount Sabrina Panoramic View and Resort. The reason why the pool is shaped like a fish because this city is called Tuna Capital of the Philippines. Yeah, tuna because they have a plethora of that fish on their naturally riched seas even within their coastal premises.

#7 Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte

Pagudpud is the northernmost point of mainland Luzon, the north main island that comprises the archipelago. It is one of the popular tourist destinations in the country because of its beautiful beaches and resorts that attracts tourists to stay in a matter of days. This fourth class municipality had been a part of the neighboring town of Bangui, where you can find a lots of windmills at seaside that serves as their source of electricity.
Burayoc Point, Rinnovati, Saud Beach, Kabigan Falls, Apo Idon Resort, and Patapat Viaduct are among its tourist spots, where you can truly captivate the warmest welcome of Pagudpud's flabbergasting God's given gifts -- their therapeutical views of nature.

#8 Veranza Waterfalls @ GenSan, South Cotabato

What looks peculiar is that this waterfalls behind me is the Philippine's largest man made waterfalls just found inside a mall. Located inside KCC Veranza Shopping Mall, this spectacular man made falls surely refreshes your eyes when seeing these droplets of water falls down together to create a wonder amongst shoppers passing by inside the mall.

#9 Marlboro Hills @ Batan Island, Batanes

Batanes is the northernmost province in the Philippines. Batan, Sabtang, and Itbayat are the 3 islands comprising Batanes. Marlboro Hills is located at Batan Island, where the capital is at the municipality of Basco. Aside from relaxing breeze and captivating views behind me in that picture, I can truly appreciate God's given gifts unspoiled in this nicest spot. I strongly recommend globetrotters to come here at this place and you can feel like as if you were meditating in the pristine boondocks. I got here the best travel experience ever!

#10 House Mansion of Manny Pacquiao @ GenSan City

This is one of my best photo memories. This photo was undoubtedly taken inside Manny Pacquiao's first house mansion. I considered taking this photo to be my once in a lifetime opportunity.
Manny Pacquiao as we almost knew was the first and only eight-division world champion in the world of boxing.
This house mansion in GenSan is just one of his 7 mansions. That's how rich he is, ever since he won numerous boxing titles. Now that he is elected as one of the country's senators, it only proves that he is loved by his countrymen because he has strong faith to God and has the adamant compassion to serve his country as well as to his fellow countrymen.
