Holstein Babies ~ Day 139

There are a lot of farms around my house. Going to the store I pass by scenes such as this one. I could not resist stopping and taking a few photos of these baby Holstein cows. They are my favorite, they are black and white. I have called them black and white cows all of my life. The I researched and realized they are actually Holstein cows. I counted 25 babies here in their own little pasture. There is a fence post in the bottom right corner of the photo, there is also an electric fence for the babies’ protection. I did not know the history of these cows but I read they originated from the Dutch provinces of North Holland and Friesland, and Schleswig-Holstein in Northern Germany and Jutland. They are known as the world’s highest-production dairy animals. They are almost always found on dairy farms.

  1. And I, like Gary, love rural areas. There is something left to do with nature. In the big cities, this link is missing. I still think of my childhood, which was different from childhood nowadays. My grandchildren part of the animals have seen them only on a picture.
