Black & White Friday - Black & White Birds!

Here is a mixture of birds that have Black or White for Friday!

The Thumbnail a typical NZ Black Swan with cygnets, that are grey, not white but could be mistaken for white.

I need to do more pen & inks for Black & White Friday.

#1 Oyster catcher at Bucklands Beach

Here he is picking through the smorgasbord of small marine creatures in the mud flats of Bucklands Beach when the tide is out.

It is an Australian Magpie. Were told one year around Cornwall park to wear a hat for protective Magpie parents in spring because they went for people's heads.

#3 Black backed Gulls in flight

Opps!!!Brown and White Juvenille Black backed Gulls. Just a large Sea Gull.

These birds are under 2 years of age and don't get Black & White colours until they are 2 years old.

#4 White Swan

This is the only White Swan I have seen in Puketutu Island. I saw it one year and not seen it since.

I was amazed no one reported this Swan in the paper or news as just about every Swan you ever see in New Zealand is Black only.

Better put an adult Blackbacked Gull for Black & White Friday

Landing gear on...

You can always tell a Black backed Gull by it's yellow beak, unlike the other sea gulls either black beak (endangered species ) or red beak (also endangered but not as rare as the black beaked sea gulls)
