365 Day Photo Challenge: Day 10: Amethyst and Candlelight

This shot almost didn’t happen. It was pouring outside-wet and cold, not complaining but for this evening I was ready to be warm. It started out candles by themselves and than I added some things and subtracted.

In the end, I finally found some amethyst I’ve been thinking about shooting for a while. Amethyst and candlelight happened, with much experimentation and lighting adjustments.

  1. Thank you Kim–shoot it in the dark and than use a flashlight to light up the crystals, than adjust in Photoshop to pump up the colors a little. Took several tries before I got it somewhat right.

  2. How in the world did you do this? I have a huge piece of Amethyst I have tried to shoot several times, and the color just doesn’t come out. Great shots, bows to the master…
