Less than two years ago an acquaintance got a “quota”, a position as a board of directors. On many occasions he often motivates “Let’s be creative guys… explore ideas and make changes! Use your idea, get out of the box and do differently”. On many other occasions, also while fighting for business or other pressures, he often shouts, “I pay you to obey! Do what I tell you… obey what I outlined…! You do not have to do anything else outside of that.”
Last week he retired from the post… and it seems that soon the company he once led will also retire in the contemporary business environment…

Questions are asked in the direct or indirect quest to establish solutions. Sometimes uncertainty provokes creativity toward an untapped direction.
I hope that creativity will come just in time. Hopefully, they can step through an open door that usually has always been closed, daring to pass through the door as a real and imaginary barrier.
Business is an interesting reality, first that it at times seeks its own independent path, but also that the value of leadership is forgotten.
Sometimes we push people around us too hard. Sometimes we don’t push hard enough.
Nice post Albert!
Every era and organization has a common paradigm and in particular of each. We must choose specific values as part of our strategy (including corporate culture) to play in the business environment, but we cannot apply two conflicting values in one aspect simultaneously in the same quality and quantity, right?
I like this, a very structured approach to humanizing the business world!
I think business is basically a human interaction to continuing life. Humanity to humanize human and not an action to buy people life as in the military organization or build a production robot to feed zombie market. lol
Business is often painted as the negative, as the aggressor in many situations. Capitalism, is often blamed for everything. I know my twins are extremely anti-capitalist. The reality of all situations is that business is a human construct. It is something we have created. It has no ethics, morals or for that matter cognition. It is and no more. What we make of it, is often our creation.
Precisely, Coach. Business is a human creation, and in fact is the man himself. If the business has lost its ethics or morality, then that’s how we are, which is further away from our authenticity.
On the highway of life we have to stop when the guiding signs point us in the wrong direction!
Unfortunately, it looks like reality does not show that, does it?
Very true but a path to move around potentially, something to learn!
…and that is the reason why we are currently we present on earth.
Yes, workers seem expendable in the company lines. Redunduncy happens a lot. There are many talented people like your friend who has a lot to offer.
Thank you for your kind thoughts, Pamela. From morning until noon, I have talked to him a lot. Day to this evening I also have a lot of discussions with the company that is still trying to survive. I hope their spirit will bring them step forward.
Well said about the difference between a position of a leader and true leadership. Hopefully, the company will manage to overcome the problems. Even though your friend already retired, it’s probably hard to see that the fruit of his efforts is going down, and of course all the people who may lose their job.
In fact, he was replaced in an emergency, and it was a sad fact, and he tried to argue about it. That’s what his colleagues said.
Many jobs are bing lost as companies close their doors unfortunately.
Changes in the contemporary business environment require different ways of playing or handling in business, even with qualified corporate leaders a company can be overwhelmed, let alone with just a position-oriented leader.
Absolutely, erecting is changing in all aspects of this world.
So one should learn to understand the essence of change and how to adapt if it really wants to lead, right?
Great leaders are hard to find. I hope a solution is at hand.
Many people often have difficulties to distinguish leaders as positions with true leadership. I hope so too, quite a lot of people will lose their jobs if the company closes.
I pray that doesn’t happen Albert.
Yes, of course, LaJenna.
